So yesterday I had the pleasure of connecting a bat with a ball for the first time in like 3 years. I can’t believe it’s been that long. What is wrong with me? Time flies when you’re having fun I guess. I’ve been concentrating on surfing while I’ve been in California, and when I was back in NY between college and California I didn’t really have much desire to find a team. So Heather asked me over the weekend if I wanted to join her Wednesday night team and I just decided to go for it. For some reason I hadn’t wanted to commit to doing anything on a specific day for a long period of time because there are always so many conflicts with other cool things that are going on around here (surf movie premieres, launch parties for eyewear brands, etc…..well those are things that are happening on a few Wednesday nights this month. What a wild life I lead.)
ANYWAY…it felt so good to play again. I went like 4 for 5 or something with a home run. I was very stoked indeed. I’ve been missing this sport, and now if feels so good to be back in the game.
So last night after my home run I went to the launch party for O’Neill eyewear, which took place at Zenbu Sushi in Cardiff. O’Neill eyewear is being distributed under the Spy Optic umbrella, and my friend Val works for Spy. So that’s how I ended up there. Anyway, they were doing giveaways and at one point my friend Joanne grabbed my arm and dragged me up to the front saying that they were calling for two girls. So I get up there and I’m all confused, and apparently they had made these two pieces of sushi with weird stuff in it. I forget what it was, but it wasn’t that weird. I think they wanted to make them super hot (they put a jalapeno pepper on them) but they failed completely. I ate it and it wasn’t hot at all. It just tasted like sushi. So the guy got all annoyed because I wasn’t rolling around on the ground begging for water. haha. Anyway, they gave me a free pair of sunglasses!

It was a pretty fun party and I was all happy because I had played pretty well in the softball game. It’s weird, surfing gives me a great high, but playing well in a softball game gets me pretty amped up too – almost moreso.
