Sorry For The Absence

Sorry it’s been so long since my last update!  I felt like so much had happened and I was just overwhelmed at the thought of writing about all of it.  Let’s just sum it up in a nutshell:  I went to visit my friend Alicia in Seattle and had a blast.  I got some great sunny weather and got to see Seattle at its finest.  Then I went on a roadtrip to Santa Barbara with my friends Suzanne, Val, and Lori.  That was another extremely fun trip where we surfed the iconic surf break of Rincon.  You can read more about that trip in the article I wrote up for my other website, The Surfing Handbook.  Click here – Santa Barbara Road Trip.

Between those adventures I have been doing a lot of surfing right here in my own backyard.  It’s so amazing to be able to just walk to Grandview.  Every day I do it I appreciate where I am and how blessed I am to be able to say “I live in California and I can walk to my surf spot and surf with my friends.”  Like, this morning I did an early AM session with Val and Joanne.  The waves weren’t that great but the sun was out, the water was glassy, and there were dolphins and pelicans sharing the waves with us.  Sheesh.  So gooey it almost makes your teeth hurt.

I was given the OK today by my cardiologist that my heart is totally fine, my bloodwork is 100% normal, and the skipped beats I was having were just a function of adrenaline and other factors.  In other words I’m NOT going to drop dead if they happen.  Which is reassuring, because last year I had about 5 minutes of continual skipped beats and it was literally the most scared I’ve ever been in my life.  That had never happened to me before and I really thought I was going to keel over right then and there.  Ever since it has been weighing very heavily on my mind, so I’m glad I got everything checked out once and for all.  The good part about it all is that the skipped beats are happening much less frequently now that I’m not so worried about them.  Interesting how that works.

I found this amazing short film on Vimeo tonight, and if you want to see an example of something that I’d love to create myself, then check this out.  The music and cinematography were just breathtaking.  The script was good but not great in my opinion, but the film as a whole is head and shoulders above anything I’ve seen come out of Hollywood recently.
